Finnish Jobless Rate Rises to 9.3% in August

In August 2025, Finland experienced an increase in its unemployment rate, reaching 9.3%, up from 7.5% in the same month the previous year. The number of unemployed individuals rose by 53,000 compared to the prior year, totaling 267,000. Concurrently, the number of employed individuals fell by 23,000, bringing the total to 2.594 million. Notably, the unemployment rate among individuals aged 15 to 24 escalated to 16.6%, marking an increase of 3.6 percentage points from the previous year. The activity rate for those aged 15 to 74 saw a slight rise, moving to 68.7% from 68.2% the year before, whereas the employment rate for individuals aged 20 to 64 saw a decrease to 76.2% from 76.9%.
