Faroe Islands Inflation Rate Rises in Q3

In the third quarter of 2025, the Faroe Islands experienced an increase in their annual inflation rate, which rose to 1.1%, compared to the previous quarter's more than four-year low of 0.7%. This increase was primarily driven by significant price hikes in the sectors of recreation and culture, which saw an escalation to 4.9% from 0.4% in the second quarter, and a recovery in transportation costs, which rose to 0.5% from a decline of 0.6%. Conversely, there was a deceleration in inflation for key areas such as restaurants and hotels, which fell to 5.6% from 7.2%, communication services down to 0.9% from 1.6%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco slipping to 4.7% from 4.9%, and food and non-alcoholic beverages modestly decreasing to 4.6% from 4.7%. When examined on a quarterly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.2% in the third quarter, marking a recovery from the 0.1% decrease observed in the previous quarter.
