In August 2025, the annual growth rate of lending to Swedish households increased to 2.7%, up from 2.6% in July, reaching its highest point since February 2023. Housing loans, which comprise 83% of the total household lending, saw a year-over-year rise of 2.4%, consistent with the previous month's rate. In addition, consumption loans, representing 6% of household lending, experienced a modest increase, with an annual growth rate climbing to 4.8% from 4.6% in July. Lending to non-financial corporations also continued its upward trend, with the growth rate edging up to 2.8% from 2.7% in the preceding month, maintaining positive growth for the sixth month in a row. Concurrently, the average interest rate on new mortgage agreements was recorded at 2.84% in August, with the average floating rate slightly higher at 2.86%.
