US 30-Year Mortgage Rate Rebounds

The average interest rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage backed by Freddie Mac increased by 4 basis points to 6.3% as of September 25th. This marks a reversal after four consecutive weeks of decline, during which rates reached their lowest point since early October. "After several weeks of decreases, mortgage rates have edged up this week. The housing market remains resilient, with purchase and refinance applications rising by 18% and 42%, respectively, compared to this period last year," stated Sam Khater, Freddie Mac's chief economist.
