Croatia Current Account Deficit Widens in Q2

Croatia's current account deficit expanded considerably in the second quarter of 2025, reaching EUR 1,948 million, up from EUR 1,469 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. This increase was primarily attributed to a rise in the goods deficit, which climbed to EUR 5,427 million from EUR 5,381 million in Q2 2024, alongside a significant climb in the primary income deficit from EUR 69 million to EUR 338 million. Additionally, the surplus in services contracted to EUR 3,278 million from EUR 3,412 million, and the secondary income surplus saw a slight decrease to EUR 539 million from EUR 568 million. Looking at the first two quarters of the current year, the current account deficit expanded to EUR 5,581 million, compared to EUR 4,388 million during the same period of the previous year.
