Indonesia Tourist Arrivals Grow 12.3% YoY

In August 2025, foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia saw a year-on-year increase of 12.33%, reaching 1.50 million. This marks a slight decrease compared to the 13.01% growth recorded in the previous month. Among the primary contributing markets were Malaysia, accounting for 21.71% of arrivals, followed by Singapore at 3.47%, China at 11.57%, Japan at 15.80%, South Korea at 15.28%, Australia at 1.30%, and the UK at 8.40%. Conversely, arrivals from the U.S. and India declined by 6.76% and 4.13%, respectively. Over the January to August period, total arrivals increased by 10.38%, reaching 10.04 million. The Indonesian government aims to attract 14 to 16 million foreign visitors in 2025, building on the robust recovery seen last year when tourism surged by 19.1% to 13.9 million visitors, surpassing the pandemic-era target range of 9.5 to 14.3 million.
