Romania's unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations, rose slightly to 5.9% in August 2025, up from 5.8% in July, which was the lowest level recorded in seven months. The number of unemployed individuals increased by 9,800 from the previous month, totaling 481,000. The unemployment rate for men experienced an uptick, reaching 6.2% compared to 6% in July, while the rate for women remained steady at 5.5%. In August 2024, the unemployment rate had been lower, at 5.7%.
