Estonia Industrial Output Growth Accelerates in Aug

In August 2025, Estonia's industrial production saw a year-on-year increase of 1%, building on a previously adjusted rise of 0.6% in July. This recovery was largely driven by a rebound in the mining and quarrying sector, which improved to 0.7% from a steep decline of 8.7% the previous month. The upturn was chiefly due to activities such as oil shale mining, crude petroleum extraction, peat extraction, as well as other mining and quarrying and related support services. Meanwhile, the contraction in the electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply sector lessened to -20.7%, compared to a -29.1% decrease earlier. Conversely, manufacturing output experienced a deceleration to 2.5% from the previous 3.4%, mainly impacted by reductions in the production of computers and peripheral equipment, coke and refined petroleum products, and other transportation equipment. On a month-by-month comparison, industrial activity rose by 1.5% in August, rebounding from a revised drop of 5.5% recorded in July.
