Denmark Manufacturing Output Falls in August

In August 2025, Denmark experienced a 2.9% decrease in manufacturing production compared to the previous month, which had seen a revised increase of 1.4%. The most significant drop occurred in the pharmaceutical sector, which plummeted by 8.9%, reversing a previous rise of 3.7%. Other sectors also faced declines: machinery fell by 4.8% (after a 4.6% increase), electronic components decreased by 1.7% (from a 3.3% rise), and the food, beverages, and tobacco industry slipped by 0.9% (down from a 1.6% increase). The furniture and other manufacturing category fell by 0.8%, showing a slight improvement from a previous negative 0.7%, while textiles and leather experienced a 0.4% decline, improving from a 1.1% drop. In contrast, there was a robust recovery in the wood, paper products, and printing sectors, with output soaring by 12.6%, up from a 6.1% decrease. Basic and fabricated metals rose by 9.7%, rebounding from a 3.3% drop, electrical equipment improved by 5.3% after a previous decline of 0.5%, and transport equipment increased by 4.9%, recovering from a 2.2% fall. On an annual basis, and not adjusted for seasonal variations, the manufacturing output decreased by 7% in August, marking the eighth consecutive month of decline, following a revised 6.3% reduction observed in July.
