In August 2025, the Czech Republic experienced a significant surge in construction output, with a year-on-year increase of 17.1%. This represents a sharp acceleration from the 10.1% growth recorded in the previous month, breaking a three-month low. It marks the most robust expansion since January 2018, driven by considerable progress in both building construction, which grew by 11.2% compared to 9.2% in July, and civil engineering, which saw a remarkable rise of 27.4% from 11.5%. Additionally, the value of building permits issued increased by 12.2% year-on-year, amounting to CZK 56.7 billion. Nonetheless, the number of new dwellings commenced saw a slight decline of 0.4%, totaling 2,757, while the number of completed dwellings surged by 35.4% to reach 3,033. On a month-to-month comparison, construction output rose by 2.3%.
