In August 2025, the unemployment rate in the Philippines marginally decreased to 3.9%, compared to 4% in the same period the previous year. The number of unemployed individuals fell to 2.03 million from 2.07 million in August 2024, while the total number of employed individuals rose to 50.1 million from 49.15 million. The services sector continued to dominate employment, encompassing 61.5% of the total employed population, with agriculture and industry sectors accounting for 20.4% and 18.1%, respectively. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate increased to 65.1% from 64.8% the previous year, reflecting a higher engagement of Filipinos aged 15 and over in the labor market. On average, employed individuals worked 41 hours per week, which is slightly up from 40.7 hours in the same month last year.
