DAX at Near 2-Week Low

Germany's DAX index declined by over 1% on Tuesday, reaching approximately 24,100, marking its lowest point since October 1st, as it gave back some of the prior session’s gains. Investor sentiment softened due to mixed signals from the US and China regarding trade negotiations, as well as new reciprocal port fees imposed on ocean shipping companies. Additionally, market focus was fixed on France’s political landscape and the ongoing government shutdown in the US. In corporate developments, Continental experienced the most significant downturn, dropping 3.6%, influenced by similar declines in its French counterpart, Michelin, after it downgraded its financial outlook. Siemens Energy and Siemens also saw decreases, with their shares falling 3.5% and 2.7%, respectively. Conversely, Volkswagen rose nearly 2%, as the German automaker aimed to reassure investors concerning issues related to tariffs and its luxury brand strategies ahead of its third-quarter earnings release.
