In September 2025, South Korea's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased slightly to 2.5%, down from 2.6% in August, aligning with the rate observed in July. The nation experienced an employment surge with the addition of 312,000 jobs, marking the most significant increase in employment in 19 months and elevating the total employed population to 29.15 million. However, job growth in the manufacturing and construction sectors continued to decline, indicating sustained challenges in these key areas. This latest data highlights a consistent recovery in the job market following a temporary downturn last December, when 52,000 jobs were lost. Job creation subsequently accelerated, peaking at 245,000 in May before decelerating to 183,000 in June, 171,000 in July, and 166,000 in August.
