Swedish Jobless Rate Rises to 8.3% in September

In September 2025, Sweden experienced a slight uptick in its unemployment rate, rising to 8.3% from 8.2% in the same month the previous year. The number of unemployed individuals grew by 8,100 year-on-year, reaching a total of 476,000. Meanwhile, employment figures increased by 17,700, bringing the total employed population to 5.238 million. The employment rate held steady at 68.6%, and the labor force participation rate remained at 74.8%. The average total number of hours worked weekly stood at 174.9 million. When adjusted for seasonal variations, the unemployment rate was 8.7%.
