Baltic Dry Index Holds Steady

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, a key indicator for tracking shipping rates of dry commodities, held steady at 2,069 points on Monday. This stability was observed as slight gains in the larger vessel categories were balanced by declines in the smallest segment. The capesize index, which generally involves transporting 150,000-ton cargoes like iron ore and coal, saw a marginal rise of 0.2%, reaching a one-week peak of 3,128 points. Meanwhile, the panamax index, which typically hauls between 60,000 and 70,000 tons of coal or grain, edged up by two points to 1,829 points, marking its tenth consecutive day of gains. Conversely, the supramax index declined by six points, settling at 1,422 points.
