Estonia Retail Sales Rebound in September

Retail sales in Estonia experienced a 3.7% year-on-year increase in September 2025, following a previous 1.7% decline, marking the strongest performance since June. This upswing was fueled by a significant rise in the sales of computers, peripheral units, software, and telecommunications equipment, which soared by 28.5% compared to a mere 1.6% increase in August. Additionally, automotive fuel sales in specialized stores surged by 21.8%, up from 6.2% in the prior month. Other notable areas of growth included second-hand goods, retail sales in kiosks and markets, and miscellaneous retail activities not conducted in conventional outlets, which saw an 8.1% increase from 4.0% previously. Sales of medical and orthopedic goods, along with cosmetic and toilet articles, also rebounded sharply with a 5.0% increase after experiencing a 2.2% decline. In contrast, the growth rate for textiles, clothing, and footwear sales slowed to 0.8% from 4.1%. Meanwhile, sales continued to decline for food, beverages, and tobacco (-4.2% compared to -3.9% earlier), other goods in non-specialized stores (-5.2% from -4.7%), and audio and video equipment (-4.7% against a former -3.6%).
