Romanian Producer Inflation Hits Over 2-Year High

In September 2025, Romania experienced an annual producer inflation increase of 6.13%, up from 3.21% in August. This rise was the most significant since May 2023, primarily fueled by a sharp uptick in prices for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply, which surged to 13.06% from 2.89% in the previous month. Similarly, manufacturing prices saw an increase, climbing to 3.80% from 3.32%. Conversely, prices in the mining and quarrying sector fell to -2.22% from 0.84%, while the growth in prices for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities slowed down to 10.21% from 10.82%. On a month-to-month comparison, producer prices rose by 0.87% in September, recovering from a 0.61% decline noted in the preceding month.
