Egypt Inflation Rate at 3-Month High of 12.5%

Egypt's annual urban inflation rate surged for the first time in five months, reaching 12.5% in October 2025, up from 11.7% in September, surpassing the anticipated market forecast of 12.0%. This inflation rate is the highest seen since July, largely driven by a significant rise in fuel prices. Meanwhile, food inflation edged up slightly to 1.5% from 1.4% in September, which had been the lowest recorded level since April 2021. The government implemented a notable increase in fuel product prices, raising them by approximately 13% on October 17. On a month-to-month basis, the consumer price index (CPI) advanced by 1.8% in October, sustaining the acceleration observed in September and marking the swiftest rate in four months.
