Greece Inflation Rate Picks Up to 2% in October

In October 2025, Greece's annual inflation rate surged to 2%, slightly up from the 1.9% recorded in the prior month. There was a notable increase in costs across various sectors: food and non-alcoholic beverages rose to 1.5% from 1.4% in August; housing experienced a significant jump to 3% from 0.2%; and alcoholic beverages and tobacco moved up to 1.2% from 1%. Similarly, recreation and culture saw an increase to 1.5% from 1%, and health costs surged to 3.6% from 0.1%. The hospitality sector, including hotels, cafés, and restaurants, also registered a rise to 6.1% from 5.9%. Conversely, the rate of price increases for clothing and footwear decreased to 5% from 5.2%, while the transportation sector saw a significant slowdown to 0.4% from 2.7%. Additionally, household equipment prices turned negative, falling to -0.4% from a previous 0.4%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices saw a modest increase of 0.1% in October, following a 0.8% rise in September.
