Greece Industrial Output Rebounds Sharply in September

In September 2025, Greece experienced a notable upswing in industrial production, which increased by 6.8% compared to the same period the previous year. This surge followed a downward revision to a 2.8% decrease in the previous month, breaking a two-month streak of declining output. This marked the most substantial growth rate since July 2024. The rebound was driven predominantly by a robust recovery in manufacturing, which surged by 7.6% following a 0.8% contraction in August, and a significant turnaround in electricity production, which increased 5.3% after an 8.9% decline. Additionally, the mining and quarrying sector saw a slight uptick, with production rising by 2.5% compared to 2.6% previously. Meanwhile, the water supply sector's decline lessened, decreasing by 3% compared to a previous 6.8% drop. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production grew by 4.6% in September, recovering from a 4.1% fall in August.
