Mongolia Inflation Rate Hits 8-Month High

In October 2025, Mongolia experienced a rise in its annual inflation rate to 9.2%, up from 9% the previous month. This marks the highest inflation rate since February of the same year. Elevated prices were notably driven by accelerated increases in the food and non-alcoholic beverage sector, which saw a rise to 11.9% from 10.6% in September. Similarly, recreation and culture costs increased to 5.5% from 5.3%, and miscellaneous goods and services rose to 8.9% from the prior 8.1%.

In contrast, the growth rate remained stable in categories such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco at 5.3%, furnishings and household equipment at 7%, transport at 4.1%, insurance and financial services at 15.3%, and education at 12.8%. However, there was a deceleration in price growth for clothing and footwear (falling from 7.9% to 6.7%), health services (down to 5.9% from 6.5%), housing and utilities (declining slightly to 19.3% from 19.4%), communication (dipping to 1.4% from 1.5%), and restaurants and hotels (easing to 11.3% from 11.4%). On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices increased by 0.6% in October, compared to a rise of 0.2% in the preceding month.
