UK Construction Output Grows More than Estimated

In September 2025, the UK's construction output witnessed a 1.3% increase compared to the same month the previous year, accelerating from a slightly adjusted 1.1% growth in August, and surpassing market predictions of 1.2%. This marked the 14th consecutive month of growth, primarily driven by new work, which as expanded at its fastest pace in four months (2.5% compared to 1.3% in August). In contrast, repair and maintenance declined for the first time since May, registering a drop of 0.5% as opposed to a 0.7% rise. On a monthly scale, construction output experienced a 0.2% rise, counteracting a revised 0.5% decrease in August, with new work fueling this growth at 0.7%, while repair and maintenance continued its downward trend at -0.5%. Regarding the third quarter of 2025, total construction output saw a slight 0.1% quarter-on-quarter increase, with new work marginally down by 0.2% but repair and maintenance up by 0.6%.
