Greece Current Account Deficit Shrinks in September

In September 2025, Greece's current account deficit was reduced to EUR 0.4 billion, compared to EUR 0.5 billion in the same month the previous year. The deficit in goods decreased to EUR 2.7 billion from EUR 3.1 billion. Simultaneously, the primary income gap declined to EUR 0.6 billion from EUR 0.8 billion in September 2024. On the other hand, the surplus in services lessened to EUR 3.2 billion from EUR 3.6 billion, primarily due to a 3.6% drop in tourism revenues, which fell to EUR 5.6 billion from EUR 6 billion. Meanwhile, the secondary income deficit increased to EUR 0.2 billion from EUR 0.1 billion. Over the period from January to September, the current account deficit decreased by EUR 2.2 billion year-on-year, totaling EUR 7 billion.
