Sweden Posts Fastest Economic Growth since 2024

The Swedish economy experienced a notable expansion of 1.1% quarter-on-quarter in the third quarter of 2025, as confirmed by the preliminary estimates. This follows an upward revision of growth to 0.8% in the second quarter, marking the most robust growth since the first quarter of 2024. The increase was fueled by a rise in household consumption, which grew by 0.8% compared to 0.4% in the previous quarter, as well as an uptick in government spending, rising to 0.3% from 0.2%. Additionally, net trade played a significant role in this economic upswing, with exports increasing by 1.8%, surpassing the 1.3% growth of the prior quarter, while imports grew at a lesser rate of 0.8%, down from 2.9%. Meanwhile, gross fixed capital formation continued its upward trajectory, albeit at a marginally slower pace of 1.9%, down from 2.0%. On an annual scale, Sweden's GDP rose by 2.6%, an upward revision from the initial 2.4% estimate, following a revised increase of 1.9% in the previous quarter.
