Retail sales in Sweden experienced a 3.4% increase year-on-year in October 2025, slowing down from the upwardly revised five-month high of 4.6% observed in the previous month. This represents the weakest growth since July, primarily due to a deceleration in sales of non-durable goods, which rose by 5.6% compared to 8.5% in September. Conversely, the grocery trade, excluding Systembolaget, saw a slight increase, rising to 0.7% from 0.5%. Additionally, total trade, excluding petrol stations, dipped to a three-month low of 3.4%, from 4.6% in September. On a month-on-month basis, retail activity decreased by 0.3% in October, overturning the upwardly revised 0.3% gain recorded in the previous month. Over the August to October period, there was a 2.6% increase in trade compared to the prior three-month period of May to July.
