Mexico Unemployment Rate Rises Less than Expected

In October 2025, Mexico's unemployment rate experienced a slight increase to 2.6%, up from 2.5% in the same month of the previous year. This figure, however, remained below market projections of 2.8% and continued to stay beneath the six-month average. The number of unemployed individuals increased by 96,000 over the year, reaching a total of 1.6 million. Despite this rise, the nation still saw a substantial growth in net employment, with an additional 1 million jobs bringing the total employed population to 60.9 million. Additionally, the labor force participation rate declined by 0.3 percentage points, coming in at 59.9%. Notably, unemployment among men increased by 0.2 percentage points to 2.7%, whereas it decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 2.4% for women.
