In October 2025, Hungary's retail sales experienced a 3.1% increase compared to the same month the previous year, building on the 3% growth observed in September. This represented the most robust retail growth since April, largely propelled by the non-food sector, which surged by 5.2%—up from 3.5% in September — reaching a six-month high. This upswing was primarily driven by increased sales in textiles, clothing and footwear, various industrial goods, as well as pharmaceuticals, medical products, and perfumes. Additionally, automotive fuel sales saw a slight increase (0.6% compared to 0.5% previously). Conversely, growth in sales of food and related products slowed down (1.2% compared to 3%). On a monthly basis and seasonally adjusted, retail activity climbed 0.5% in October, following a period of stagnation in the previous month.
