US Futures Mixed as Oracle Slumps

On Thursday, US stock futures exhibited mixed performance as investors processed the Federal Reserve's recent rate reduction, which had prompted a late-afternoon bounce on Wall Street. Futures for the Dow increased by 0.1%, while futures for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 fell by 0.1% and 0.2%, respectively, largely due to a significant decline in Oracle's stock. The cloud company, with a strong focus on AI, saw a steep decline of over 10% during after-hours trading, following its failure to meet revenue expectations and its announcement of heightened spending forecasts. This has stirred renewed apprehension regarding the longevity of AI-related investment trends. During Wednesday's regular trading session, the Dow climbed 1.05%, the S&P 500 advanced 0.67%, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.33%. These shifts occurred after the Federal Reserve implemented its third quarter-point interest rate cut of the year while suggesting a more cautious approach to easing in the coming year. Additionally, Chair Jerome Powell remarked that further rate hikes are improbable and expressed confidence in the enduring strength of the US economy.
