Business Confidence in South Africa Jumps to 14-Year High: SACCI

In November 2025, the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) reported a significant rise in its business confidence index, which reached 132.3, marking its highest point since July 2011, up from 13.8 in the previous month. This surge was largely attributed to a notable increase in international tourist arrivals. However, the chamber advised caution when interpreting these figures, as several critical physical economic activities continue to lag. This situation highlights the challenges of a sluggish economy that requires bolstered investor confidence and a rise in fixed investments. SACCI expressed optimism that the current business confidence level might inspire necessary structural economic policy changes. Such adjustments have the potential to attract both local and international capital, thereby fostering enhanced economic growth, employment, and broader participation in the resulting value creation and wealth distribution, SACCI concluded.
