US 30-Year Mortgage Rate Edges Higher

As of December 11, 2025, the average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage has slightly increased to 6.22%, up from the previous week's one-month low of 6.19%, according to a survey conducted by mortgage giant Freddie Mac. Sam Khater, Freddie Mac's chief economist, noted, "The average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage remains significantly below the year-to-date average of 6.62%, offering a degree of stability to the housing market."
