Ibovespa Edges Higher

The Ibovespa index inched up by 0.1%, closing at 159,189 on Thursday, as investors adjusted their portfolios following the Central Bank of Brazil's decision to maintain the Selic rate at 15% without providing indications of future monetary policy actions. Internationally, the Federal Reserve reduced interest rates by 25 basis points, setting a range between 3.50% and 3.75%, but refrained from offering any guidance on subsequent policy decisions. Leading the gains was Vale, with a 1.3% rise, closely followed by Ambev, which experienced a similar uptick. Raia Drogasil saw a notable increase of 3.2%, and major banks ended the day stronger. Conversely, Petrobras suffered a near 2% decline due to weakened oil prices, and both Embraer and Suzano negatively impacted the index with losses of 2.6% and 4.6%, respectively.
