Sweden Business Confidence at 3 ½-Year High

Sweden's business confidence index rose to 107.4 in December 2025, up from a revised 105.5 in the previous month. This represents the sixth consecutive monthly increase and the highest level since June 2022, buoyed by improved sentiment across all sectors. Despite this, companies continue to report weak demand, with figures at -24 compared to -26 in November. The trade sector is the only area where demand aligns with its historical average. Employment levels within the business sector have generally remained stable over the past three months, shifting slightly from -4 to -3, which aligns with historical trends. However, firms anticipate a modestly higher expansion of their workforce in the near term, with expectations rising from 6 to 7. In addition, businesses continue to forecast above-normal increases in sales prices for the upcoming three months, maintaining the same level of expectation at 15 since June 2025.
