EU Car Registrations Rise 2.1% in November

Passenger car registrations within the European Union experienced a 2.1% increase year over year, reaching 887,491 units in November 2025. This follows a 5.8% rise seen in October, marking the fifth successive month of growth. Among the EU’s four largest markets, two reported gains: Spain saw a rise of 12.9%, and Germany recorded a 2.5% increase. Conversely, France experienced a slight decline of 0.3%, and numbers in Italy remained stable. The battery electric vehicle (BEV) sector saw a significant upswing with registrations rising by 44.1%, driven by marked increases in Spain (60.9%), Germany (58.5%), France (47.5%), and the Netherlands (26.5%). Over the first eleven months of 2025, total car registrations in the EU increased by 1.4% compared with the same timeframe the previous year. BEV registrations amounted to 1.7 million, capturing a 16.9% share of the EU market, up from 13.4% as of November 2024.
