Norway Retail Sales Growth Hits 18-Month High

In November 2025, retail sales in Norway increased by 1.3% compared to the previous month, a notable uptick from the modest 0.1% rise observed in October. This marks the second consecutive month of growth, representing the most rapid expansion since May 2024. The growth was driven by a sharp increase in sales of ICT equipment, which rose by 2.3% compared to 0.9% previously. Additionally, there was a rebound in sales of other household equipment, which jumped by 5.3% following a decline of 2.1%, as well as a modest recovery in the sales of food, beverages, and tobacco, which increased by 0.2% after a previous drop of 0.6%. Sales in non-store retailing improved significantly, growing by 2.7% after remaining stagnant in October. Conversely, growth in non-specialised store sales slowed to 0.5% from 0.9%, cultural and recreational goods sales tapered to 0.2% from 2.1%, and other goods witnessed a slowdown to 0.2% from 0.9%. The sales of automotive fuel remained unchanged after a slight increase in October. On an annual basis, retail activity in November surged by 5.2%, up from a 3.3% rise in the previous period.
