Hong Kong Forex Reserves Dip Slightly in December

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority reported that Hong Kong's foreign exchange reserves decreased to USD 427.9 billion in December 2025, compared to USD 429.4 billion in November. Despite this decline, the reserves are still over five times greater than the currency in circulation and account for roughly 38% of the Hong Kong dollar M3. By the end of December, there were no outstanding foreign exchange contracts.
