New Zealand Shares Fall for 3rd Session

On Tuesday, New Zealand's primary index, the S&P/NZX 50, saw a decline of 0.2%, closing at 13,656. This marked its third consecutive session of downward movement, primarily influenced by worries surrounding the independence of the US Federal Reserve, which impacted investor confidence. On the domestic front, investors considered the likelihood of additional interest rate hikes by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, particularly with Q4 inflation data anticipated next week. Among the major players on the index, EBOS Group fell by 3%, Auckland International Airport decreased by 1.9%, Mercury NZ dropped by 2%, and Spark New Zealand reduced by 1.3%. Other significant declines included Third Age Health Services, down by 4.4%, Vista Group International with a 2.1% drop, Hallenstein Glasson Holdings falling by 3.8%, Vector decreasing by 3.4%, and Gentrack Group seeing a 3.1% reduction.
