In November 2025, Bulgaria's trade deficit reached a record high of BGN 2,541.5 million, surpassing the BGN 1,779.4 million deficit from November the previous year. This escalation was due to a decline in exports and an increase in imports. Export revenues decreased by 4% year-on-year to BGN 6,971.8 million, largely due to reduced shipments to both EU nations (-3.1%) and non-EU countries (-5.8%). Conversely, imports rose by 5.2% to BGN 9,513.3 million, with increases recorded in imports from EU countries (0.6%) and a significant rise from non-EU countries (12.4%). Over the January to November period, the trade deficit broadened to BGN 18,801.5 million compared to the same period a year prior, as exports declined by 3.7%, and imports grew by 5.1%.
