Ireland Retail Sales Rebound in November

In November 2025, retail sales in Ireland experienced a modest recovery, rising by 0.5% compared to the previous month, which had seen a decline of the same magnitude. The automotive sector led this resurgence with a notable 4.7% increase, a marked improvement from October's 1.7% decrease. Other significant gains were observed in the bar industry with a 3.8% rise, reversing the prior month's 1.2% drop, and in the hardware, paints, and glass sector, which saw a 2.8% uptick following a 3.5% decline. Although the rate of decline slowed, the clothing, footwear, and textiles industry continued its downward trend with a 0.7% drop, improving from October's 1.9% decrease, as did the electrical goods sector, which fell by 0.7% compared to the prior month's 1.2% reduction. Conversely, sectors such as miscellaneous retail sales, specialized food, beverage, and tobacco stores, and books, newspapers, and stationery recorded the most significant declines, all experiencing a 1.4% decrease, having previously seen varying increases. Annually, retail sales grew by 2.5% in November, building on a 2.1% increase in the previous period.
