Baltic Dry Index Down for 7th Day

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, which monitors the rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, declined for the seventh consecutive session on Tuesday, reaching its lowest point since July of the previous year, at 1,608 points, a 3.1% decrease. The capesize index, which mainly handles 150,000-ton cargoes like iron ore and coal, fell for the 14th consecutive day, decreasing by 5% to 2,446 points. Meanwhile, the panamax index, responsible for transporting 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, dropped for the second day, edging down by 0.7% to 1,331 points. Among the smaller vessels, the supramax index decreased by 8 points to 952 points.
