Brazil New Car Sales Hit 2014-Highs

In December 2025, Brazil's new car sales surged to their highest monthly total in eleven years, with 279,400 units sold. This figure marks a 17.1% increase from the previous month and an 8.5% rise compared to December 2024, largely driven by surplus inventory. Conversely, exports plummeted by 47.7% from November and 38.1% year-on-year, with only 18,700 units shipped, the lowest since April 2020. Despite this, 2025 saw a 32.1% increase in the shipments of domestically produced vehicles, reaching 528,800 units. A modest growth of 1.3% is projected for 2026, with an expected total of 536,000 units, bolstered by Argentina's robust market performance. Additionally, imports of foreign vehicles saw a 6.6% increase, fueled by the influx of cars manufactured in countries without a free trade agreement with Brazil, notably China.
