Danish Retail Sales Hit 4-Month Low

Retail sales in Denmark experienced a year-on-year growth of 3.3% in December 2025, a slowdown from the revised 4.9% increase observed in November. This represents the most modest annual expansion since August, with sales decelerating significantly in the sectors of clothing (0.7% compared to 4.6% in November) and other consumer goods (6.4% down from 8.3%). Additionally, sales of food and groceries saw a slight decline (-0.3% compared to a previous 0.1% gain). Despite these decreases in December across all three sub-sectors, there were quarterly increases in each category: other consumer goods advanced by 2.7%, food and daily necessities edged up by 1.1%, and clothing registered a minor rise of 0.1%. On a month-to-month basis, retail sales saw a decline of 1.2%, reversing the previously revised 1.7% increase from the previous month and marking the first decline since June 2025.
