Macau GDP Growth Slows in Q4

Macau's economy experienced a year-on-year growth of 7.6% in the fourth quarter of 2025, showing a slight decline from the 8% growth of the previous quarter, as revealed by preliminary data. Despite this minor slowdown, it marked the second consecutive quarter of economic expansion. The primary driver behind this was a robust resurgence in the export of services, which increased by 9.8% due to a significant rise in visitor arrivals. This uptick was bolstered by several large-scale events hosted in the Macao SAR and government efforts to attract tourists. In terms of domestic demand, government spending increased by 1.3%, household consumption rose by 1.1%, and gross capital formation went up by 0.9%. For the entirety of 2025, preliminary figures suggest that GDP grew by 4.7%, a deceleration from the 8.8% growth recorded in 2024.
