Croatia Retail Sales Hit 6-Month High

Retail sales in Croatia experienced a significant increase of 4.8% year-on-year in December 2025, recovering from the previous month's two-year low of 1.4%. This figure represents the highest growth since June. The escalation was driven by a noticeable uptick in sales of non-food products, which grew by 5.6% compared to 4.2% in November. There was also a marked increase in sales of automotive fuels and lubricants, climbing to 9.4% from 6.8%, and a notable rise in trade in specialized stores, excluding automotive fuels and lubricants, which advanced by 4.9% up from 1%. Furthermore, the sales of food, beverages, and tobacco saw a turnaround, rising by 4% following a previous decline of 2.6%. Conversely, sales conducted via the internet or mail order fell by 0.8%, a decline from the 7.9% growth noted earlier. On a month-to-month basis, retail activity grew by 0.7%, recovering from a decline of 0.5% in the previous month.
