Baltic Dry Index Eases for 4th Day

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, a key indicator for shipping rates of dry commodities, dropped for the fourth consecutive session on Thursday, declining by approximately 1% to reach its lowest level since January 26, settling at 1,936 points. The capesize index, known for transporting large cargoes such as iron ore and coal up to 150,000 tons, fell by 1.4% to 2,951 points. Similarly, the panamax index, which is utilized for carrying between 60,000 and 70,000 tons of coal or grain, decreased by 1.5% to 1,659 points. In contrast, the smaller supramax index saw an increase of 0.9%, reaching its highest point since December 24 of the previous year at 1,102 points.
