In January 2026, Brazil's automobile production experienced a 13.5% month-on-month decline, totaling 159,600 units. This downturn can be attributed to a steady domestic market combined with diminished export demand. Furthermore, the comparison was influenced by a high base effect since January 2025 had the strongest output for that month in six years. Specifically, the production of passenger cars decreased by 13.9% to 120,500 units, while light commercial vehicle output fell by 20% to 30,500 units. Conversely, truck manufacturing saw an 18.6% rise, reaching 6,800 units, and bus production witnessed a significant 159.6% increase, totaling 1,820 units.
