Danish Current Account Surplus Hits Record High

In December 2025, Denmark's seasonally adjusted current account surplus rose to DKK 40 billion, an increase from the previously revised figure of DKK 35.8 billion in November. This figure represents the largest surplus recorded to date. The expansion was driven by a boost in the goods account surplus, which climbed to DKK 33.2 billion from DKK 30.7 billion due to a 2.8% increase in exports. Concurrently, the services account surplus saw an upturn, reaching DKK 2.1 billion from DKK 0.9 billion, and the primary income surplus improved to DKK 8.1 billion from DKK 7.4 billion. Conversely, the secondary income deficit experienced a slight increase, moving to DKK 3.4 billion from DKK 3.2 billion. Over the full year, Denmark recorded a current account surplus of DKK 390.6 billion, a rise from DKK 356.9 billion in the equivalent period of the previous year.
