Czech Republic Forex Reserves Hit New Peak

Foreign exchange reserves in the Czech Republic rose to USD 180.67 billion in January 2026, up from an upwardly revised USD 176.40 billion in December 2025, setting a new record high. The increase was underpinned by broad-based gains across nearly all reserve components. Foreign currency reserves advanced to USD 162.11 billion from USD 159.82 billion, special drawing rights (SDRs) edged up to USD 3.56 billion from USD 3.53 billion, and gold reserves increased markedly to USD 12.90 billion from USD 10.10 billion. By contrast, the IMF reserve position was little changed at about USD 0.78 billion, while other reserve assets fell to USD 1.30 billion from USD 2.20 billion.
