Rice futures were trading slightly above $11 per hundredweight, hovering near their highest levels since September 2025, supported by sustained demand from Asia and Africa, where rice remains a staple food. The USDA’s February WASDE report projects the 2025/26 US rice outlook to feature tighter supplies, steady domestic consumption, reduced exports, and higher ending stocks. Globally, the outlook has shifted only marginally from the previous month, with higher supplies, lower consumption and trade, and an increase in ending stocks. Total supplies rose by 0.2 million tons to 732.6 million, primarily due to increased production in Cambodia.
