Indonesia Tourist Arrivals Rise 1.1% in January

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia increased by 1.11% year-on-year to 1.01 million in January 2026, following a 14.43% rise in the previous month, indicating continued growth in inbound tourism. Air travel remained the dominant mode of entry, accounting for 78.92% of total arrivals. Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali and Soekarno–Hatta Airport in Banten handled 712.95 thousand visitors, or 89.06% of all air passengers.

Sea arrivals reached 173.36 thousand, up 2.99% year-on-year but down 37.16% month-on-month, with the majority passing through Batam and Tanjung Uban ports (82.41%). Land arrivals stood at 40.51 thousand, an increase of 21.69% year-on-year but a decline of 30.69% month-on-month, mainly through Atambua and Jayapura (83.81%). Compared with December 2025, total international arrivals at the main entry points fell by 17.06%, reflecting typical seasonal patterns.
