Thailand Consumer Mood Highest in 9 Months

The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s consumer confidence index rose to 53.7 in February 2026, up from 52.8 in January, reaching its highest level since May. The improvement was driven by the central bank’s decision to cut interest rates to 1% and by expectations of new stimulus measures from the incoming government following last month’s elections. Thailand’s parliament is scheduled to convene this weekend, clearing the way for lawmakers to vote on the next prime minister next week. The survey was conducted prior to the outbreak of war in the Middle East, although respondents already voiced concerns about geopolitical tensions and U.S. trade policy.
